Jubile pour un livre seul

Cahiers recherche/musique, no. 2. Paris: INA-GRM: 19-24.

Michel Chion asks himself how the Traité des objets musicaux does not have much importance in today’s musical theory and what the consequences are for this situation. After some thoughts on these subjects he presents his final view of this book: it is a clear analysis of sound object levels, a criticism of traditional timbre and psychoacoustic theories, a valuable resource in terms of acousmatic and reduced listening theories, including references to phenomenological theories, and finally it is a valid new music theory.
