Le statut sémiologique de l’objet sonore

Cahiers recherche/musique, no. 2. Paris: INA-GRM: 91-106.

This paper, a complement of Fondements d’une sémiologie de la musique, analyses the semiological qualities of sound object in five parts: the symbolic status of electroacoustic work, the semiological theory in Traité des objets musicaux, the important role of listening in Schaeffer’s theory, the ambiguity of the sound object concept and the role of musical research in musical creation.
