This article presents techniques on how to compose with interpolated Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs) and to synthesise moving sound sources for binaural electroacoustic music intended for headphone listening. The article describes some pragmatic compositional techniques and "rules of thumb" that may serve as a link between spatially based musical ideas and the scientific and technological realities of current binaural, headphone-based sound reproduction systems.
