Electroacoustic Symbolism in {Powers of Two: The Artist}

Friday 11 February 2005, by Pierre Couprie

Barry Truax develops two ideas:

  1. The work is grounded in a specific context, one that provides an audience with a frame of reference for understanding it.
  2. There is a necessity to relate the external to the internal complexity. The examples are extracts from his work, Powers of Two: The Artist, a work for two singers, female dancer, video tape and eight digital soundtracks.
