The music of François Bayle from one listener’s point of view: re-presentation versus representation

1994b

Tuesday 28 March 2006, by Pierre Couprie

One of the innovative aspects of electroacoustic music is the possibility to separate the source from the cause. The author develops her theory on re-presentation as a sonic presentation of an original sound source. Through two works, Solitioude and Motion-Emotion, the author analyses François Bayles’s sound images that appear when the recognition of sound source is ambiguous, allowing one to focus on non-sounding analogies such as motion, energy or space.
