Introducing Composed Instruments, Technical and Musicological Implications

In this paper, the authors define and discuss the concept of ’composed instruments’. Their discussion includes: the design of computer systems in the context of live performances, musicological considerations, and historical context. They exemplify their discussion through various ’composed instrument’ compositions.
