Bayle, François

L’espace des sons et ses ’’défaut’’

1998

L’espace : Musique/Philosophie. Paris: L’Harmattan: 365-371.

The author analyses the notion of spatiality in electroacoustic music from two perspectives: 1) Space defining categories: distance, presence, and sounding body; 2) Definitions of space in relation to musical forms: concret, electronic, electroacoustic, acousmatic and “technophonique” (DJ experimentation). Through these two perspectives, the author develops his idea of acousmatic music as a music of space that contains images of sound.
